What Are Custom T-Shirts Made Of?
A standard custom tee starts with a quality blank — typically 100% cotton, a cotton-poly blend, or a tri-blend for extra softness. The design is then applied using screen printing, DTG, embroidery, or vinyl, depending on the artwork and order size. Premium inks are phthalate-free, soft-hand, and rated for hundreds of wash cycles.
Screen Printing vs. DTG vs. Embroidery
Screen printing pushes ink through a mesh stencil and is the most cost-effective method for larger quantities with simple to moderately detailed designs. DTG (direct-to-garment) sprays ink straight onto the fabric like an inkjet printer, making it ideal for full-color, photo-quality artwork in small quantities. Embroidery stitches thread directly into the fabric for a raised, premium look best suited to logos and text on polos and uniforms.
